Summer vibes

We looked outside and decided to go on an adventure. The three of us walking to 7-11 for slurpees. After service, Anna, Tristan, and I struck out on this adventure. The concrete was heated by the sun and warmed our feet. 80 degrees outside and not a cloud in the sky. The cars whizzed by us but we spoke loud to be heard over them. It was a mile walk but we enjoyed every moment of it. I in my jean shorts, turquoise racer back tank, and Target brand Jerry Sperrys, Anna in her jean dress and gladiator sandals, and Tristan in his black Nikes, black basketball shorts, and black muscle shirt. I raised my arms and touched the branches that stole my sunlight and cast shadows over our bodies. We were all smiling from ear to ear and I knew that I would remember this day. We walked into 7-11 welcoming the icy air that cooled our pink cheeks. We all chose cherry slurpees that left our lips and tongues red. Sadness was far away from us. I paid and Tristan held the door for us as we left. Drinking our cherry drinks, we walked along the sidewalk. I let Tristan and Anna be in front of me. I watched them happily chatter about things going on. It's times like these that I like being in the background. Basking in others happiness. You look on and realize how happy people can be and how good life is. I watched Tristan walking on the curb where the sidewalk meets the road. I saw Anna glowing, and finally not worrying about a thing. I am happy because others are happy and that's all I need to be happy for.
The park came up on our left. The dirt paths entwined with one another. And we, we took the path less traveled by. The small dirt trail that led up a small grass hill. When we got to the top, we saw the blue sky and the green grass fields, sprinkled with lines of brown. The three of us ran down into the meadow. Anna's shoe broke so I let her borrow mine. I felt the cool rocks beneath my feet. We came to a small dock overlooking the lake. Our arms dangled over the wood railing, and a zephyr swept through our hair. We stayed there a few moments until a couple showed up and we decided it was time to go back to church. Walking back, I felt like we were part of a movie. Three people walking back from the lake. The blue sky behind them and the sun before them. They were all smiles and this was the ending to a summer film. The perfect day and everything happened to go just as it was supposed to.
