I went to ballet feeling happy,
My mom had told me my bun looked good,
Nice and even.
I went to ballet feeling pretty.
I had worn make up that day,
Brown and natural.
I went to ballet feeling fit.
In my room I had stretched and done a mini work out,
Short but precise.
I went to ballet feeling skinny.
Barely eating anything the whole day,
Bagel and Poptart.
I went to ballet.
My teacher commented on my thighs,
Bulky and short.
I went to ballet.
My teacher told me about my body,
Athletic and muscular.
I went to ballet.
She told me my legs have gotten muscular,
Not lean nor balletic.
I went home from ballet.
Knowing I would never be enough,
Just tears and muscle.
love, savannah
