the things in your past are the things that haunt you. always behind you. lurking in the shadows. waiting to strike out at your most vulnerable. the past is patient. it waits for the time that will hurt you the most. it makes you scared. hurt. and lonely. you remember the times that were bad. and you dont want that to happen again. so you do everything to avoid it. you block your heart and build barricades against the world. never to be taken down.
but, when the person that comes along does take it down. it's hard to rebuild it. and even harder when youre trying to build it against the person who took it down.
the past will haunt you. let it go.
